Terms of use and rental terms
The terms on which you rent moving crates from Rent A Crate. Written to be read. Last updated: 23 August 2026.
A. General
1. Who we are
The rentacrate.gr website and the Rent A Crate trade name are owned and operated by TNS Commerce M. I.K.E. (“the Company”, “we”).
2. What these terms cover
These terms govern every use of rentacrate.gr and every contract for crate rental and consumables purchase made through it. By completing an order you confirm that you have read and accept them.
Contracts are concluded in Greek. The English version of this page is provided for your convenience. If the two differ, the Greek text prevails.
3. Definitions
Crates: the plastic moving crates and the related reusable equipment, meaning transport dollies, glass and plate dividers, and Jumbo and IT crates. These are rented.
Consumables: tape, protective paper, film, wood wool, wardrobe boxes and anything similar. These are sold and are not returned.
Rental period: the time from delivery to collection, as you chose it in the order, in whole weeks.
Customer: the person or company placing the order. Where the customer is a consumer within the meaning of Greek law 2251/1994, the rights in §20 and §21 apply on top of everything else.
Partner: a franchise business that carries out deliveries and collections in particular postcodes on our behalf. Your contract is always with the Company, never with the partner.
B. The service
4. What you actually get
You get clean, sanitised crates, delivered and collected by us, for the period you chose. The package price includes delivery and collection. There is no transport charge inside the areas we serve.
5. Areas we serve
We serve the areas listed on the Coverage areas page and in the order form’s own list. Outside them we neither deliver nor collect, at any price.
You may not move the crates outside the service area without written agreement in advance, because we will not be able to collect them.
6. Ownership
The crates and the rest of the rented equipment remain the exclusive property of the Company throughout the rental. You acquire no ownership rights in them.
You may not sell, pledge, sub-let or lend them to anyone, and you may not remove, cover or alter their markings and identification numbers.
7. Duration and extension
The rental runs for the number of weeks you chose, from the day of delivery. If you need longer, tell us before the period ends and we will extend it at the weekly rate printed on your package card.
Crates that are not available for collection on the agreed date, without an agreed extension, are charged at the same weekly rate for each week of delay or part of one.
C. Ordering, prices and payment
8. How the contract is formed
Products shown on the site are an invitation to place an order. The contract is formed when you receive our order confirmation by email.
We may decline an order, in particular where equipment is not available for the dates requested, where the address is outside the service area, or where there is an obvious pricing error. In that case we refund the full amount.
9. Prices and VAT
All prices are in euro. On the packages page both figures are shown, including VAT and excluding VAT. The price you are charged is the one including VAT.
The price that applies is the one displayed when you ordered. Later changes to the price list do not affect confirmed orders.
10. Payment methods
We accept Visa, Mastercard, IRIS and bank transfer. Card payments are processed in the payment provider’s secure environment and your card details are not stored by us.
11. Prepayment, no deposit
The rental is paid in full before delivery is scheduled. We do not ask for a deposit and we do not put a hold on your card. In exchange, the charges for loss and damage are published and predictable, in §18.
D. Delivery and collection
12. Delivery
We deliver to the address you gave, on working days, within a time window agreed with you. An adult must be there to receive the equipment and confirm the delivery.
Delivery is made to the ground floor or the entrance of the building, unless there is a lift the crates fit into or something else has been agreed. You must make reasonable access available for the vehicle.
Check the equipment on delivery. Tell us about anything missing or damaged within 24 hours, otherwise it is taken to have been delivered complete and in good condition.
13. Collection
We collect from the collection address you gave, on the day the period ends. The crates must be empty, clean, closed and stacked somewhere with reasonable access. If you have dividers, dollies or other items, they must all be present and gathered together.
14. If something goes wrong with the appointment
If we find nobody at the address during the agreed window, or the equipment is not ready for collection, we will arrange another visit. A second wasted visit is charged at 25 euro.
If we cannot deliver because of a problem at our end, we will tell you as soon as we can, offer a new date, and refund you in full if that does not suit.
E. Your obligations
15. Proper use
Use the crates for what they are for: packing and moving household or business belongings. Do not fill a crate beyond its working capacity and do not stack higher than can be moved safely.
You are responsible for looking after the equipment while it is with you, as a careful person would look after their own things.
16. What is not allowed
- Hazardous, flammable, explosive, corrosive or toxic materials.
- Illegal items or substances.
- Liquids without secure sealing, fresh food, and anything that gives off odour or attracts insects.
- Modifying, painting, drilling or sticking anything on them other than the labels we supply.
- Using the crates as a ladder, a seat or a support.
- Moving them outside the service area, sub-letting, or passing them to a third party.
17. Condition on return
Crates come back empty and clean. Wipe them out if they need it. You do not need to wash them, we sanitise every crate before it goes out again.
Crates returned with residue, staining or odour that needs a special clean carry a charge of 15 euro per order, not per crate.
F. Loss and damage
18. Replacement charges
We hold no deposit, so we publish exactly what a lost or destroyed item costs. We charge only for what cannot be used again.
Charges are invoiced after collection, once the equipment has been checked, and photographic evidence is sent to you for every charge. You have seven days to dispute it.
19. Responsibility for the contents
What you put inside the crates is yours and stays your responsibility. We do not insure the contents and we are not liable for damage to them, unless it is our fault.
G. Cancellation, changes, withdrawal
20. Cancellation and date changes
You can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before the delivery window and we refund the full amount. Send an email or call.
Cancelling inside the last 48 hours: the first week’s amount is retained and the rest is refunded.
Changing the date is free, as often as you need, provided you ask at least 48 hours ahead and there is availability.
Refunds are made by the same payment method, within fourteen days of the cancellation.
21. Right of withdrawal, for consumers
As a consumer you have the right to withdraw from the contract within fourteen calendar days, without giving a reason, under Directive 2011/83/EU and Greek law 2251/1994.
In practice the simplest and most generous route for you is the cancellation in §20: cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before delivery and the full amount comes back, with no formalities.
The right of withdrawal does not apply to consumables that have been unsealed or used, under article 3ib of law 2251/1994.
22. How to withdraw
A clear statement to info@rentacrate.gr is enough. You may use the model below, but you do not have to:
23. Consumables
Consumables are sold. If they are still sealed and unused, we take them back within fourteen days and refund what you paid. Opened or used consumables are not returnable.
H. Everything else
24. Our liability
We are responsible for delivering clean, working equipment on the agreed date and for collecting it. A defective crate is replaced at no charge.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit or the cost of a third-party removals service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, in particular for intent or gross negligence, and nothing affects a consumer’s statutory rights.
25. Force majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events outside our control, such as extreme weather, strikes, natural disasters or government measures. We will tell you and offer a new date or a refund.
26. Personal data
How we handle your data is set out in the Privacy statement and the Cookie Policy.
27. Intellectual property
The content of the site, the text, photographs, logos and design belong to the Company or are used under licence. Personal use is fine; reproduction or commercial exploitation without written permission is not.
28. Complaints and dispute resolution
Write to us first at info@rentacrate.gr. We answer every complaint.
If that does not settle it, as a consumer you can go to the Greek Consumer Ombudsman (144 Alexandras Ave, 114 71 Athens, synigoroskatanaloti.gr) or to the European online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
29. Governing law
Greek law applies. The courts of Thessaloniki have jurisdiction, without affecting a consumer’s right to bring proceedings in the courts of their own place of residence.
30. Changes to these terms
We may amend these terms. The version in force is published here with its date. Your order is governed by the terms that applied when you placed it, not by a later change.
